Biography

Associate Professor Kaleab Asrress underwent medical training at the University of Oxford graduating in 2003 following a Bachelors degree in Physiology from Cambridge. He underwent Physician Training at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and sub-specialist training in Coronary and Structural Intervention at St Thomas’ Hospital, London with the team that pioneered minimally invasive transcatheter valve interventions in the UK.

His PhD was awarded from King’s College London, which led to numerous publications and awards including Young Investigator of the Year Award at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He performs a wide range of interventional procedures including coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention, as well as structural heart interventions that include Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Mitral interventions, and Patent Foramen Ovale and Atrial Septal Defect closures. He leads a busy clinical program and active research group dedicated to improving patient care and outcomes.
